Shooting Photos At Town and Country

Tips for shooting inspiring countryside and cityscapes. Head into the towns and surrounding countryside for a different take on your Landscape photographs

Landscapes are often only associated with rolling hills and mountainous ranges. However, the towns and cities make for great subjects too, offering impressive architecture and man-made open spaces which make beautifully simple subjects. Try looking for intricate details and abstract objects to help tell the story of the town.

The surrounding countryside can also offer a range of subjects away from the
typical green spaces. Look for local farm lands and focus on the vibrant
colours of the fields to produce striking photos with lots of interest.

Use simple compositions to produce dazzling shots and think about adding interest to your photos with a focal point or natural frames. Follow these simple tips and you will take fantastic shots in both the town and country.

Shoot in auto
Leave your camera in auto to allow yourself to focus on your composition. Most cameras will expose well-lit landscapes adequately in auto mode.

Support the camera
If you don’t have a tripod, use whatever you can find to steady your camera, such as tree stumps or fences, helping you get a sharp shot.

Boost your colours
Lots of cameras will have a picture control mode, giving you the option to boost your colours in-camera. This helps to reduce your editing time.
